Winning Trainer: Rex Lipp
"He's been crying out for this sort of distance all the time. It was a big effort the other day. He finished the race off strongly like he did today.
"It was a great ride.
"He's a colt that every time I step him out he improves all the time. We haven't seen the best of him yet. I do believe we've got more to go yet.
"He's a real colt, especially when you go to saddle him. Up until then he's an angel. That's what you want to see, a bit of fight in the dog and he's got it."
Feelings after the start: "I thought we were gone. Damien had no hesitations staying there (on the rail) riding for luck which is a great thing, and as it has panned out it is the best thing to have happened."
Can the horse step up in distance again: "There's no pressure from the owner, it is what I decide in the next week."
By Encryption: "First year sire who stands in Queensland and it has been great to do it for Eureka Stud."
Winning Jockey: Damien Thornton
"He just fell asleep and couldn't wake him up in the barriers so I thought it is what it is now. I gave him a squeeze after that.
"They went pretty quick for the first 2 f of the race. Probably suited me where I was. It wasn't the 'A' spot but we just take our medicine where we were.
"He found a bit of trouble. I knew I had a fair bit underneath me at the top of the straight and just needed a bit of luck.
"Thankfully I was behind the right horses when things opened Everyone was tired but he was taking it.
"Credit to him. It was a big effort and Rex has done a terrific job with him."
