LORDOSIS (5) ran very well on debut on Hobart Cup Day then was tipped straight out. That's good form for this. The two-year-old THESPIAN WATERS (14) debuted nicely behind Needs Sugar in a two-year-old listed race in late January and will take a power of beating. They look the standouts. Respect for the newcomer to the state CREATIVE LICENCE but he has drawn the car park. The first starter SWEET LUCIFER has first 4 claims as does GONE GLOBAL (10) and A LITTLE SHADY who are both resuming from a spell. SHAMMGOD (12) is never far away. I'M KEEFE (19) was off the track last start and is capable of better. CORONATION ALLY didn't have much room at her only start.
CHORIZAMA (2) has his hoof firmly on the till. Worked too hard early last outing and was a sitting shot for the eventual winner Seydoux. His only start in Hobart back in March was a very good second behind Alvarinho who has since been competitive in Melbourne. He is the one to beat. MILLA'S READY was luckless on resumption. She was shuffled back and held up at a key stage then hit the line late. SHIM (5) hasn't had much go right at her last two outings since winning here in April. Senior rider engaged here. They look clearly the three winning hopes. Next best HER THOUGHTS BYNANCE (11) PERKINS (10) and the likely leader VOLKANOVSKI (3).
MAY WE ALL (5) covered ground over the mile last start from a wide alley but kept coming soundly. He comes back to the 1400 here and should be very strong when it counts. ZULU ESPRIT steps up in distance coming off a solid third behind Adachi over 5 1⁄2 f. He looks well-suited. Can overlook the last effort of GEEGEES SUNSHINE when she never got a crack at them a fortnight ago. SCANDALOUS AFFAIR was solid on his Tasmanian debut 28 days ago and expect improvement off that. ARCUCCI (8) and ARTFUL PEGASUS next best. WHERE YOU FROM (14) is a big market watch if he gains a start
CYCLONE LOUIE (4) was very brave in defeat behind Lady Vuitton here a fortnight ago after covering ground. The extra 1 1⁄2 f of todays' event shouldn't pose a problem. COSTERO (3) comes via the same race where he closed off strongly. This is his perfect distance. Didn't mind the effort of MAARKLE (5) on the same day but the query is her ability to run a strong 1 1⁄2 m. ONE LOTTO is getting fitter but possibly needs this run to be at his best. HELLFIRE EAGLE (2) is having his third run in 14 days and is coming off a win at Devonport last weekend where everything fell into place for him. Nonetheless, he has some hope but inclined to take on as a winning chance. CHI MAZEL rates as a first 4 threat with the right run.
MOVEFORLEX (1) got the job done at a very short quote 28 days ago over the 1200. He has plenty of upside and no doubt will appreciate the step up to the mile. DUTCH ACTION is racing consistently at both ends of the state and will be thereabouts again. Her stablemate DOONICAN (9) hasn't been able to catch a break on the synthetic. His form is better than what it reads on paper. He is rock hard fit and a key contender. BANCA GLEE is limited and steps back to the mile but can entertain him as a first 4 chance. MARTINI BLUE and NEEDS REMEMBERING are both minor hopes. They come via the same Class 1 race a fortnight ago where their efforts were on a par.
This is tough. HELLOVA NIGHT (3) looks well-placed with a 4 kg claim and he'll appreciate the step up to 1400. He missed by the barest possible margin behind Galenus a fortnight ago and that form looks as good as any. STREET TOUGH finished just behind the quinella in the same race warming up nicely late. He can win. Can make a case for RICH CLAN ALPINE AFFAIR and RING OF HONOUR All three are in great form and capable of being right in the finish. SH'BOURNE REBEL has some hope but believe he's vulnerable back to the shorter trip. EAGLE STREET (10) will be rattling home but possibly concedes them too big a start . FREAK ON A LEAD likes an uncontested lead. Doubt he gets that here.
JEREMIAH (2) hasn't been seen in the winners' stall for some time. At his most recent outing, however, he was an eye-catcher late in a strong BM 68 and that form reference puts him firmly in contention. OLE OLA looks a threat third up and she finally draws a decent alley. There's been plenty of merit in her two runs since resumption. Can't fault DAWN EAGLE who is well and truly in the zone. The query for her though is barrier 1 this late in the day. FAR AWAY HIT is going well but she's doing plenty wrong in her races. More than capable of figuring if she can put it all together. FOUR LETTER WORD (11) is a hard horse to follow. Been freshened up since a plain effort 28 days ago and blinkers go on for the first time. Improvement wouldn't shock. POWERFUL PEBBLES (10) and STELLADONI (4) next best.
OUR LITTLE TED (2) resumed in terrific order for his new stable 6 weeks back finishing close up behind Amaword in a deep BM 76 contest. He'll take a power of holding out in a race that screams high pressure. Similarly suited is NICCO THE GREEK who will relish the 9lbs weight drop. Ideally, he's suited over a bit more ground but will be hammering home hard. MOVE ON OVER is part of the early speed with no weight on her back and potentially leads this for a long way. TONY NICCONI ran up to his trial form when he resumed, and was just collared late by a softer run. Gets weight relief in a tougher race. DAY PERFORMER did enough first Rates a top-four chance at least. Next best SHARMA RAMA and GEEGEELUCKYSTAR (1).
