Best From The West: Belmont – 13th May 2023
The Belmont Sprint shapes as an excellent contest and as good a betting race with much of the form emanating from the Northam Stakes.
However we're not overly keen on that race so looking elsewhere and the 3yos have run well against the older horses all season.
So we're going to tip Bustler in a very suitable race. Excellent first up in the Roma Cup, he was just out-graded in The Quokka then loved the drop back two weeks ago.
Remember back to his top run in the WA Guineas and Northerly Stakes behind Amelia's Jewel which is the best Perth can throw up.
Now fittest and over this trip he should be able to take up a lovely spot in and around the speed and prove hard to beat.
Another with a good hope in the last is Rokanori who can run a big race first up from a good break.
Clearly last prep didn't go to a perfect plan, ending after two runs. So he's had a good break and trialled well enough at Lark Hill.
Hoping William Pike can put him just behind the lead division and with a good weight pull on other favourites, can run a cheeky race.
Consider he is unbeaten this distance, loves the track and runs well resuming.
