Another quiet weekend in Adelaide on Saturday with the top-end talent racing elsewhere or still spelling before the action heats up later next month with the South Australian Autumn Carnival.
Despite the lack of quality racing, winners are still to be found and I've come up with my two best plays.
This week we don't have to wait long to sink our teeth into the day's action, where in race two I've got the Brent Stanley-trained Sorel Rising as the best winning chance of the day.
The three-year-old gelding has progressed nicely this campaign and looks to be finally hitting his straps, going close to making it two on the bounce at the latest when beaten a head on the Lakeside.
In what looks to be an easier assignment, Sorel Rising can continue to improve under talented hoop Todd Pannell and while he's likely to go back from the gate he should take plenty of stopping, and I don't think they will be able to.
Looking to go bang-bang, our next best play of the day comes in the proceeding race with the resuming Daring Move.
From the smart Richard & Chantelle Jolly stable, Daring move is a progressive four-year-old who has saluted in four of her eight career starts.
The lightly-raced mare is unbeaten fresh and was last seen closing off nicely into a midfield finish behind the talented Jigsaw in Listed company at Caulfield.
Facing nothing of the sorts here, I expect Daring Move to take a significant leap this campaign and prove too classy in her first hit-out.
