Sydney raider Major Artie heads north on Saturday and is one two gallopers on the Doomben card who have last-start ratings well clear of their rivals.
The Waterhouse/Bott gelding looks beautifully placed and will be hitting peak fitness fourth up off three close-up efforts in Sydney, placing in his last two at Rosehill.
Major Artie steps up to a distance where he is unbeaten in three attempts and with James Orman booked he ticks all the right boxes.
Orman is also aboard Ashgrove, the other runner with the ratings and the form to win earlier on the program.
He was edged out narrowly in both outings since a win at Eagle Farm, last time closing well to miss a by a nose at this track and trip.
This looks an easier assignment so he is very well placed.
