Best From The West: Ascot – 11th February 2023

Some nice Listed races on the Ascot program as we begin the trek to the Perth Autumn Carnival.

The first of those is the Challenge Stakes won by some darn good horses in recent times including the Railway winner last year.

This is a bit of a replay of the WA Breeders Classic held at Pinjarra this year and won by All The King's Men.

He's had the two runs back and seems as though the added 0 will pose no issues given how he finished off last time.

He probably peaks now third up and Paul Harvey knows him so well. Won't need to be going so far back this time either.

In the Cyril Flowers for the sprinters, loved the return of My Bella Mae so we're thinking she can show her end to last year was no fluke.

They gave her a crack at the Placid Ark Stakes in November and she did not disappoint at all coming from midfield to score.

Understandably they then had a throw at the stumps in the Winterbottom and she wasn't disgraced ending up under four lengths back.

Returning two weeks ago, the daughter of Deep Field took care of three rivals as her lead up run and now she draws a lovely barrier against better runners.

Don't want to be taking silly odds but looking to her to love being back down in the weights.
