Canberra Racing Preview (Post Scratchings) —Sunday 11 December 2022

Race 1 (1200) CL1

ENZINA is in a top Sydney barn and was bet 2-1 here third-up and faded after sharing the speed. Brought promising provincial form to that and fitter will be very hard to beat drawn to advantage. FLOWER PRESS resumes for the Ible yard and is right up to this if presented on-song. The sharp trials suggest she is and she's capable of using the rail. NEGATION came home well just missing in the Enzina race and she's a second-up winner. Has more up the sleeve and is sure to give a sight. SPATS PAV BOWIE is a likely improver second up.

Race 2 (1300m) BM60

MIL CIENTO brings strong provincial form to peak and can sit handier today. Deserves the win and should be right in DIAMOND CLASS comes back to a sprint off a 40-day freshen. A 3x winning rider is re-united and she may surprise. GRAVY TRAIN MAGPIE resumes for the Valla barn and expect her to be presented ready. Has the outside gate but she's speedy and rates to give a sight. HOW DO YOU SLEEP has been thereabouts and can make an impact.

Race 3 (1400m) CL2 SW

KARAOKE KING improved again when running on to be just beaten at Newcastle and that looks a good form reference for this. He will settle back but looks capable of coming over them. TIP TOP TIMING resumes and just missed here at the mile before the break. Will race over further but has trialled well and Penza is a key jockey booking. She will race handy and keep very safe. HARDERTHANTHEREST (11) won here the latest here in easier but has weight relief and respect the barn. Looking for improvement form BUDDEROO BLITZ second up.

Race 4 (1200m) Maiden

FIRE AND GEMSTONE resumes for the local barn with the blinkers applied first time. Won a recent trial here suggesting he'll come back much better. Owen rides and is sure to use the low barrier. PROMETIO MAS settled back and made late headway when resuming. Will be fitter for that and will appreciate the extra 1 f. JEWEL APPROACH (11) wasn't too far off the placegetters on debut and is open to natural improvement. First starter HURRICANE ABLOWING was solid enough at the trials so keep safe.

Race 5 (2000m) CL1 SW

ALL ABOUT OLLIE brings a big Gosford Maiden win at 1 3⁄16 m and couldn't have been more impressive. Draws low and Penza is a key jockey booking. Fitter and he's a strong chance to repeat. GENJIRO needs a good ride but was just beaten here this trip the latest in better grade. A chance. SHAFTY brings a dominant Maiden win and is a hope pushing forward in receipt of a small claim. The inside draw suits the speedy SAVANT DE LUNE who can give a sight.

Race 6 (1600m) Bm65

GLOWING GOLD (10) is in one of the nation's leading barns and deserved the comfortable Bathurst Maiden win. Races handy and tipping she can take the next step lifting to the mile. DIP ME LID flew home beaten 1L here in Open grade surprising the market. Has the handy 7lbs claim in easier and third-up the mile suits. Better supported Dryden stablemate SWEET HONESTY won here this grade and trip and keeps improving. A decent chance. CASINO TIME won the 60 here easily three back over a middle distance. May need a wet track but can't be ruled out coming back to the mile.

Race 7 (1000m) BM70 - Federal

EMMA'S GIFT has been briefly freshened since the comfortable 60 win here. Back to the shorter sprint shouldn't bother and she can secure the run of the race. DEVINE MISS resumed three weeks ago with a solid Queanbeyan placing. She has plenty up the sleeve but needs a good ride from an awkward barrier. SMOKESHOW (11) was readied for her return with a solid trial and has placed in both previous fresh attempts. MOORE EUROS was only beaten half a length when resuming and is open to improvement.

Race 8 (1400m) Mdn SW

XTRAREVZ resumed here and was just beaten when expected to need Draws to advantage and Penza is a key jockey switch. Should go close. KINGSTON CHARM (10) will be close to peaking following two runs since a spell. Caught the eye running on to get within 2.2L of the winner last start at Kembla Grange. Threat. KENICHI is also Sydney-trained and brings a string of trials to debut. The latest was good and she will come off the rail. Keep very safe. MR PAPERA has claims off the last start placing here.
