Best From The West: Ascot – 19th November 2022

The Railway Stakes is the first of the G1s through the Pinnacles Series at Ascot and it kicks things off this week.

It will be an open betting race (much different to last year) so we must go for some value here.

In conceding this has been a rush having run last week then heading over the country, nevertheless Ironclad has definite each way claims.

First up he ran on strongly into third in the Linlithgow on Derby day and then followed up last Saturday with an excellent run from last in the Cranbourne Cup.

He's on the limit and from the lovely draw can sit midfield without doing any work. If he's ridden for luck he can run a cheeky race.

The race before is the WA Guineas and there will be a huge focus on Amelia's Jewel. She will be looking to bounce back and many will be with her.

But we have a little doubt she is right back to her best and while the 4lbs benefit and barrier helps, we'll take the Fairetha form.

All The King's Men is fit, ready to peak and might be suited at the mile if he gets track position on the other main hopes.

He was only just outbobbed in his lead up race so is on target and will handle whatever track is dished up on the day.

Just at the prices, with little between them all, we'll take him both totes in the Guineas.

EACH WAY PLAY (1): Race 7 #3 All The King's Men @ $7.50

EACH WAY PLAY (2): Race 8 #9 Ironclad @ $10.00
