Say from SA: Morphettville - Saturday, 12th November 2022

It’s finals day in Adelaide with Morphettville hosting a solid nine race card that we get to sink our teeth into. The form has been done and I’ve landed on two best bets that hope to fill our pockets.

One of our best is a progressive four-year-old gelding, who with his breath-taking win last weekend has got us jumping on the bandwagon, while the other is a gutsy five-year-old who returns to his stomping ground.

You must be wise to admit when you are wrong and that's exactly what I was last weekend when going against Boolcunda King.

Having closed hard over the top of his rivals after settling a mile back two starts ago, I thought the lack of engaged speed at the latest would see it too difficult for the up in grade Boolcunda King to let rip with his devastating turn of foot. how I was wrong.

Despite being caught in a very awkward position in a slowly run race, the 'King' under leading SA hoop Barend Vorster, bided his time along the rails before getting a sniff of fresh air and exploding through to the finishing post for a comfortable salutation.

Rising 4lbs off that impressive last start performance, the pair are drawn similarly again but this time with noticeably more engaged speed. Expect Vorster to settle his mount behind a decent tempo and once again be saved for a strong finishing flurry that should reel them all in.

Our other best bet comes in race seven in the 'time-honoured' Gytrash Series Final. Here we are siding with the ever consistent Struck By.

A model of consistency for the Travis Doudle camp, the resolute five-year-old showed plenty of ticker at the latest when fighting on gamely to hold down a placing at Flemington on Cup Day.

Returning back to Morphettville, Struck By strikes a favourable track and trip where he holds an outstanding record.

In a race lacking any great deal of tactical speed outside of himself, 4lbs claiming apprentice Logan Mcneil will waste little time finding the front from barrier four and should be able to dictate proceedings without much applied pressure.

With Struck By's immediate threats likely to settle in the second half of the field, I'm hoping McNeil and his mount can stack them up at the turn before giving them the slip when straightening and prove too difficult to chase down.
