Best From The West: Ascot – 12th November 2022

The Pinnacles begins. The Perth carnival is away and racing.

In a top card as we head toward the G1s from next week, we will select a horse who has taken on G1 standard horses over East.

Red Can Man only needs to repeat some of those Melbourne efforts and he has to be in the finish of the G3 Colonel Reeves.

Remember in the winter sprints he kept finding one better. He then ventured to tougher races and was still right there without gaining a success.

Sixth in a good Caulfield 5 1⁄2 f sprint, he was then just a length off the form which would end up being the Champions Sprint testing material. His G1 Rupert Clarke run was hardly poor on heavy going as well.

Back home he's had a trial, gets a lovely run in transit and gives you a sight early in preps too. He has to be an each way play.

You can also absolutely bet that with William Pike back in town after his move East, he would have been given some really good mounts to kick back off with.

One of those could well be Devoted in the RJ Peters, looking for a big lead into the Railway.

This 4yo has had two runs back from a break, gotten well back in the field and hit the line.

Of course they want to win this race given its name and even more so before the stronger races.

The son of Xtravagant was back a long way in the Asian Beau and closed off to be beaten just over a length.

Just seeking some W Pike magic back at Ascot since his break from the West.
