Kevin Kemp's gelding chased well for third when resuming at Toowoomba then stepped straight to the mile when a solid second at this course last time out.
That will have brought him to peak fitness and while many of his main rivals will either settle back or are dropping in distance, Linthorpe Lad should be in a controlling position in a race lacking pace.
That gives him every chance to hold his rivals at bay and Larry Cassidy sticking.
Also fitting the 'third up off two good runs' mould is Better Get Set earlier on the program.
The O'Dea/Hoysted mare was a solid fourth when resuming then lifted her rating when beaten half a length at this track and trip last start.
She usually performs well third run in so is likely to have more improvement to come and Ben Thompson can secure her a good passage from a low draw.
