Say from SA: Morphettville - Saturday, 29th October 2022

It may be Four Pillars Day interstate, but we’ve got ten of the best from Morphettville to find a winner or two.

Not a bad meeting in Adelaide this week and I'm heading to Race 7 for my best play of the day in the form of Calla Dream at an each-way quote.

I think she's been underrated in the market given the form she's in and how her ratings stack up here. She was fresh from 6 week break last start and worked home well to grab second behind the speedy Chosen Blonde, rating 95 on Timeform's scale.

Before the break, she ran the race of her life when racing three wide no cover in the Lightning Stakes, beaten a length by Extremely Lucky and rating A repeat of that would seemingly make her hardest to beat, and even her last start effort looks highly competitive.

She also gets a decent jockey switch with Crowther replacing Lafferty and drops 11lbs (effectively 18lbs with the claim). She looks as good a chance as any and I feel the market is being generous at 6-1.

Also at 6-1 is Sign Of Ussuri in Race 9, and I think he is another that is being undersold by the market. No doubt it's an open race but I marked him favourite as he looks very well suited at the set weights conditions of the race.

He was racing well without winning before breaking through in the Coleraine Cup, keeping his very consistent rating of ~100 with Timeform. His last four starts have seen him rate 100, 99+, 100 and 103.

The gap between runs is the main query but he seems a worthy gamble considering The Map is currently favourite off some very shaky benchmark form, the market seemingly gravitating to her 117lbs and lightly raced profile.

We'll trust the McEvoy stable (who are back to their career average strike rate in recent times after a lean patch) to have him right to go.

Bet of the day: Race 7 #7 Calla Dream @ $7

Also backing: Race 9 #1 Sign Of Ussuri @ $7
