Best From The West: Belmont – 3rd September 2022

Only eight races in Perth this week which is fascinating as we finally get back onto a better track – at least before Saturday that was the case.

The Jolly Beggar Stakes is the best race on the day with some interesting horses down to run over the short course.

One of the value plays of the day is Our Norman in the 1 5⁄16 m race in the middle of the card.

It has taken him a while to get going this time in but that has co-incided with the increase in trip.

Once he got to 2000m+ he's gotten on the speed and kept rolling. You can picture them heading straight over from the jump here.

Should he get there without much work, he'll be hard fit and tough to get especially if other hopes get some traffic issues.

Over to the last race where Mood Swings gets an in form apprentice Keshaw Dhurun to try and steer the gelding to a deserved win.

He's been racing well from a break but on damper surfaces but now hopefully finds a track on the better side.

The last time he raced on the good track he won at Ascot by a nice margin.

Look for the 6yo to roll forward from the middle gate and try to get some control. The little claim is just an added bonus.
