Sydney Specials: Randwick – 20th August 2022

Group 1 racing returns to Sydney on Saturday with the Winx Stakes to be run at 3:45pm.

Nine of 11 runners are set to make their seasonal debut with Anamoe the headline affair.

Last seen finishing down the track in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Anamoe will be out to land James Cummings his first success in the feature event.

Surprisingly Anamoe has only ever won once first up previously which came in last year's Group 2 - Run To The Rose.

Somewhat different scenario on Saturday as he kicks off over 7 f and two trials should have him forward enough.

Looks to land the box-seat with not a lot of speed on paper and should get every chance. Is he a bet at 6/4 – I still don't know, which tells me he probably isn't.

One horse who does look to be a bet on Saturday is his stablemate Zapateo.

Set to line up in the seventh event, the daughter of Brazen Beau went out on a winning note when returning a new career peak at Scone.

Just the sole trial in the lead up but looked to move really well and gets every chance on the map for Rachel King.

Rates top on weight adjusted ratings and if anywhere near her peak, she should take plenty of beating.

Around 3-1 is more than acceptable.

The Group 3 Premier's Cup has Lord Ardmore as the early favourite and while I get I think the value lies with two other Waller runners – Toomuchtobear and Yiyi.

Toomuchtobear presents different form and certainly ticks a few boxes.

He is unbeaten third up (2/2), is unbeaten at Randwick (2/2) and rates well on weight adjusted ratings.

Yiyi was given little chance from the wide draw last start but was very good late and now draws inside and can settle closer.

He too rates well down in the weight and is expected to finish a lot closer.

For the pair you can take $4.25, which to me looks a better bet than the favourite.

Simon Dinopoulos' Tips:

Race 6 #7 Toomuchtobear & #13 Yiyi @ $4.25
Race 7 #10 Zapateo @ $4.00
