Best From The West: Ascot – 13th November 2021

One week to go before the Group Ones hot up in Perth and it’s a really good program at Ascot.

The three big races on Saturday are intriguing and one horse that fits that bill herself is Mrs America.

The American Pharoah filly showed that she was capable of winning over 7 f last time. No doubt this is harder but the breed wants the mile and further.

She will be back here from the draw and William Pike will be ducking and diving for runs.

But if there is enough speed she could rattle home and you can bet they would have targeted this race trying to win it for the umpteenth time.

She is each way all day.

Then to the Colonel Reeves for the sprinters in the lead up to the Winterbottom Stakes.

The obvious is Elite Street after two lovely wins but there is value in the resumer Red Can Man.

Here is a horse thought good enough to head to Melbourne for the late Winter WFA races.

He won one of those in the Sir John Monash at Caulfield and even placed in the G2 PB Lawrence Stakes.

Sent home after the failure in the Memsie, he shapes up very nicely here with a positive record early in campaigns for good measure.

If he could take up his normal position, he is very dangerous at nearly double figures.
