Best From The West: Ascot – 6th November 2021

We are not far away from the Masters Series and this weekend will be an important lead up.

The first of the black type races is the Fairetha Stakes for the 3yo boys and we just have to back up on It'Sarayday.

He was impressive resuming and then had not much luck in the Belgravia.

You have to think now to 7 f and from a nice gate he can be right where you'd want to be in running.

He even gets a little drop in weight under the scale and should have track position on the other main hope in the betting.

Then to the Lee Steere Stakes where Railway chances will be firing up ready for two weeks' time.

The lead up in the Northerly Stakes was a relatively slowly run affair and the leaders controlled the race.

We needed to see the former elite horse Regal Power come back and he looked like he did well enough in that race sitting midfield and closing to just over a length.

The Railway winner from two years back had gone off the boil since his All-Star Mile victory. For that reason alone we can get better odds on race day.

But he's had the time off and is well suited at WFA. Plus with a big prize a fortnight away, you'd want to be firing and thinking the Pike/Williams/Peters combo will want another back up for Western Empire.
