Sydney Specials: Randwick - 31st July 2021

A good track is on the menu at Randwick on Saturday with a number of wide open contests.

Only two horses (Skedaddle & La Chevalee) are marked inside 2-1 and thus if you are able to find a winner you should be able to make it count.

The Mark Newnham trained Sixgun is yet to salute this time in but finds a very suitable assignment on the weekend.

The brother to Group 2 winning sprinter Splintex and the half-brother to stakes winner Invictus Salute, Sixgun created quite the impression when winning on debut but is yet to win again.

He has placed in three of his subsequent seven starts and while a disappointment if you've backed him, his form hasn't wavered a great deal.

On Saturday he gets in very well at the weights, the blinkers go on for the first time and Newnham has kept him fresh (28 days).

The drop back in trip also suits and while drawn a touch awkwardly Sherry should be able to slot in somewhere midfield.

From a ratings perspective he looks to have a fairly decent edge and we have him marked 6/4.

With better than 3-1 available he looks a cracking gamble, I will be a touch surprised if he isn't well backed, everything bar the barrier is a tick.

In the seventh event the Les Bridge trained Madam Legend looks well placed to go back to back.

An impressive winner fresh at Rosehill over 5 1⁄2 f, Bridge has kept her on the fresh side (35 days) with a nice trial in-between.

Scratched last week in preference for this McEvoy links back aboard and she has won three of six attempts over this trip.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings she sits clear off her first up win and finds a fairly thin affair.

The Waterhouse and Bott trained Surf Dancer is expected to show good improvement second up though he'll need to if he is to hold her off.

Surprised she isn't favourite and happy to take the early price.

The Chris Waller trained Blondeau is also hard in the market, but suspect he is worthy risk.

He took advantage of being ridden more positively last start but from the wide draw he is likely to get back and do what Blondeau does best, hit the line well when left with too much to do.
