The Melbourne Mail: Caulfield- 3rd April 2021

It's Easter Cup day at Caulfield this weekend and Le Don De Vie looks a bunny worth chasing in the feature.

Le Don De Vie did enough first up over a mile in Adelaide and he did more than enough at this level in the Geelong Cup back in the spring when he went forward and found plenty under pressure, forcing Steel Prince to pull out the stops to get the better of him with a couple of smart ones in behind.

Le Don De Vie is good enough to win the Easter Cup and it's that on speed pattern and williing attitude that turn him from good enough into a good bet in a race loaded with the usual suspects. Plenty of get-back-run-on, rinse-repeat types.

That won't be the case for Le Don De Vie and Jamie Kah. Kah likes to roll and so does Don and that continues to prove a massive advantage against those who don't or can't.

Persan was terrific first winning in fast time, and he certainly can't be tipped into the usual suspects category. But barrier 15 might stick him back there with them and at the prices on offer Le Don De Vie is much more appealing.

He is our each way play while our bet of the day comes a couple of races earlier in an outstanding handicap for three-year-old sprinters.

There are plenty that are up to winning good races in the coming weeks in a race loaded with improvers and high-raters but Winsum looks a decent gamble to knock them all off at 5/1 with his two Cranbourne wins hinting at him being a horse for stakes company and they sandwhiched anther high rating when it took one currently in the market in a Group One at Rosehill to knock him off.

He's not alone here, but he is a good horse and worth backing from a positive draw as a horse that looks like he could easily make his way into better races.

Bet Of The Day: Race 5 #15 Winsum @ $6.00

Each Way Play: Race 7 #5 Le Don De Vie @ $8.50
