Starlight To Bounce Back

The Michael Clements trained Starlight tasted his first defeat last start but looks well placed to bounce back at Kranji on Saturday.

Unbeaten from his first two starts he was sent out the $1.60 favourite but was unable to repel the challenge of the Stephen Gray trained Kharisma.

Unlike the start prior he wasn't able to find the front and was forced to sit outside the lead.

Doubt that suited him and expect him to be better placed on Saturday when due to contest the fifth event.

Kept on the fresh side (35 days) Starlight wasn't asked to do anything in his most recent trial, safely held under Beuzelin.

Confident Clements has him where he needs to be and the step up to 7 f looks another tick.

Over 6 f he hasn't had the easiest time in front whereas over 7 f he should get a lesser tempo and leave more in the tank.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings he rates top and gives the impression he has more to offer.

From the middle draw he should find the front fairly comfortably and looks hard to beat.

The Donna Logan trained Golden Flame has placed in six of his last ten starts including a second placing behind Legend Of The Sun last start.

He has placed in four of eight attempts over this trip and while drawn out, he should look to follow Starlight across.

The senior rider goes back aboard and with even luck he looms as a major threat.

Although failing to feature in better company last start happy to give the James Peters trained Made In Russia another chance.

His effort first up was very good and while likely to get a long way back from the draw he should relish this lesser company.

On best form he is more than capable and has to be included in the main hopes.

The Tan trained Clarton Treasure went to the paddock off a winning note and has to be kept safe fresh.

His sole trial in the lead up was rock solid and while he faces a tough ask from the draw, he still has to be respected.

Good luck and happy punting.
