Elliot Ness Untouchable At Kranji

The Mark Walker trained Elliot Ness appears well placed to break through at Kranji on Saturday when due to contest the second event.

Sent out favourite on debut, Elliot Ness only went down narrowly when really finding the line late over 1200m.

He is expected to take good improvement from that hit-out and expect him to be better suited on the turf.

Leading rider Vlad Duric takes over and overall is striking at just shy of 20 per cent when combined with the Walker stable.

The wide draw is some query, though the capacity should ensure a solid tempo and they are all expected to get their chance.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings he boasts the best figure in the event and suspect he has more to offer.

Always like to follow horses who are well supported on debut and display good ability.

While he was unable to land the prize he returned decent figures and if able to hold his form, he is sure to be right in the finish again.

Eliot Ness was an American Prohibition agent, famous for his efforts to bring down Al Capone and enforce Prohibition in Chicago, Illinois.

He was also the leader of a famous team of law enforcement agents from Chicago, nicknamed The Untouchables.

Here's hoping he can live up to his namesake and take down his opposition on Saturday.

The Hideyuki Takaoka trained Con Speranza finished just behind the latter last start and has to be respected from the favourable draw.

Stepping out for just his third start, he has placed at both outings to this point and should be nearing his peak third up.

He gets in well after the claim and is likely to settle ahead of Elliot Ness in-running.

That being the case, he should prove hard to peg back.

Debutant Amazing Breeze has displayed good ability at the trials and while drawn wide, he remains under strong notice in his debut.

The same can be said for the fellow debutant Illustrious.

Trained by Tim Fitzsimmons he has won both trials in the lead he too just has to overcome the wide draw.

Good luck and happy punting.
