Brisbane Best: Doomben – 7th November 2020

An eye-catching resuming effort will have Starosa primed for a win at Doomben on Saturday.

The Tony Gollan-trained filly settled near the rear of the field when returning over 6 f but hit the line well to place.

That was her first outing since finishing midfield behind Rothfire in the Group 1 JJ Atkins in June to end a successful juvenile season that included back to back wins at this course and distance.

Starosa won her only previous second up attempt so should relish the step up in trip and prove hard to beat.

Smart sprinter Desert Lord looks well placed in the following event.

The six-year-old has performed well in two Queensland runs since joining David Vandyke, bolting in at Eagle Farm first up before a close third to The Harrovian, who has franked the form by winning again since.

Desert Lord has had a month off and races well on the fresh side.

He drops back from open company to a class 6 and ratings suggest he will be too good for this line up.
