Sydney Specials: Randwick – 9th May 2020

Well we didn’t have to wait long to test the True Detective theory (won’t win another race), he lines up in the fourth on Saturday and at present takes up 25% of the market, god bless him.

As the saying goes, you've made your bed, now lie in it.

Only problem is where do you turn, I really like Subpoenaed as a horse, she is loaded with talent, but her racing pattern is low percentage.

One saving grace on Saturday is she has finally drawn a gate, could Dolan take up a position?

The optimist in me says yes, but the realist says since arriving from New Zealand she has never settled better than midfield.

She'll need some luck, but if able to weave her way through, she looks hard to beat.

In the final event the John Thompson trained Grand Piano appears well placed to continue his upward spiral.

Only tasting defeat once this time in (Carbine Club), Grand Piano has continued to raise the bar and is a horse you want to stick with.

Forced to sit wide throughout, he still proved too good and when adjusting for sectionals, he looks to have more to come.

Steps up in grade, but appears well treated at the weights and leading rider Nash Rawiller sticks (won 3/3).

Drawn out again, but should be able to press over with Rapido Chaparro likely to take up the running (drawn to his outside).

Grand Piano does meet the latter 4lbs worse off, however feel last start flattered Rapido Chaparro and confident he will beat him again.
