Brisbane Best: Doomben – 3rd August 2019

Third-up specialist Sienna Rose looks ready to peak and win at Doomben on Saturday.

The Steven O'Dea-trained mare looks well-placed and set to show her best in the Eureka Stud Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1350m.

Sienna Rose has returned in good order this campaign having placed at both outings.

She ran on from the tail when third at this course over 6 f when resuming then again hit the line hard when beaten just half a length at Eagle Farm last start.

That run will have topped her off nicely and she is unbeaten third-up, winning two from two.

Sienna Rose has good statistics at the course and distance and Ron Stewart goes back aboard having won his only ride on the four-year-old.

The one concern is a wide draw but as she gets back anyway this shouldn't cause her too much concern and she ticks a lot of boxes.

A big drop in grade sees Intrinsic well-placed in the Performer at Aquis Class 3 Plate over 1200m.

The Kris Lees-trained mare was a real eye catcher in the Ramornie Handicap last start, rattling home to be just over half-a-length away in fourth place.

That was her third straight run at stakes level so the drop in grade to a class 3 is a significant one.

The form through the Ramornie also looks strong as she was just a nose behind Freddie Fox Trot who came out and won a stronger race last week.

Intrinsic has a good record at this course and her ratings suggest she is up to winning this.
