Sydney Specials: Hawkesbury - 27th April 2019

Happy to say luck deserted us last weekend with both Amorita and Into The Abyss very stiff in defeat, here's hoping our luck turns at Hawkesbury on Saturday.

Keen to play at the back end of the program with the Team Hawkes trained Trope a key stand-out in the Guineas.

An impressive winner on debut, Trope went on to finish second in the Listed Fireball Stakes, when a sectional star behind Prophet'S Thumb.

Freshened (35 days) for the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint [1200m], Trope only managed seventh, however he was certainly a hidden run.

Given his position in running, it was impossible for him to win, recording the second fastest (behind Classique Legend) 4 f, 3 f and 2 f of the race.

He notably recorded the fastest last 1 f and was simply left with too much to do.

By More Than Ready out of a Galileo mare (Personify) he is bred to relish the step up to 7 f and should be able to settle close from the inside draw.

The likely speedmap indicates a strong tempo and expect Trope to be too strong late.

In the final event the Team Snowden trained Signore Fox appears well placed to return to the winner's stall following a game performance last start.

Thrown in the deep end last start, Signore Fox held his own, when only beaten 1.5L in the Listed South Pacific Classic [1400m].

He looked to just peak on his run late there and should be right at his top racing fourth up.

The drop back to a Benchmark 78 swings the race further in his favour and the booking of JMac is another push.

McDonald rode Signore Fox to his maiden victory at this course and distance in August last year.

In not an overly strong race, he should prove very hard to beat.
