Best From The West: Ascot – 23rd November 2019

Perth’s biggest day is the Railway Stakes program but it has a little difference this year.

There isn't quite the eastern state interest this year so the locals could have it to themselves.

Given it is open and barriers have given some of the best jockeys a hard task, let's go looking for value.

Bob Peters aims all his horses for the biggest of races and he has several hopes including Star Exhibit and Regal Power.

But one at big odds that won't get much attention is Perfect Jewel and she sets up well here.

She found the line strongly in the Asian Beau and third up at a mile is a 'perfect' scenario.

Being held up effectively until the 1 f at Ascot is not a great place to be with the short straight while the others have momentum.

Jade McNaught has been in great form and will ride the mare quietly, chasing inside runs. They do happen in this race and given the mare came fourth last year, we know she handles the day.

Definitely include Regal Power in all your bets though. Had he drawn well he was near favourite.

The WA Guineas is the race prior and the fillies have had a top record winning the last couple.

With Tuscan Queen targeting the Kingston Town, the one who was the best run outside her last week was Kay Cee.

She has done well in the past when running again so quickly and being by Playing God, the mile is just what she needs.

Many of the main hopes will be back in the field with her so she won't be giving away big starts to them.

Her run in the Champion Fillies was excellent and hindsight may well show that race stronger than the boys lead up in the Fairetha.

We can play her each way as well.
