Best From The West: Belmont – 28th September 2019

The Listed Birthday Stakes is the feature of the Belmont card on Saturday.

It is a race containing promising horses and those who've taken on tougher races in the past.

One of those good young horses is Lady Cosmology who resumes from a lovely barrier.

The Simon Miller mare was a top local 2yo and then as a 3yo ran into Arcadia Queen in two quality mile races like the WA Guineas.

In the Autumn she ran a cracker in the G1 Sangster in Adelaide before winning the Proud Miss in May.

From this barrier, she could get to the front or be right with the leaders all the way and prove hard to beat given only two rivals have had a recent run.

We've been keen on a horse recently called Tamasa but he was scratched before running last outing.

The former Victorian is now a month between runs but has run nicely first This time last year he won well during the Spring carnival in Melbourne.

Since coming to Perth he's been closing off well but the gate hurt his hopes last time.

It is a tricky one again here but freshened at the short course, it will be tracking up a field which isn't doing a lot of winning of late. We should get a better price on the day too.
