Brisbane Best: Eagle Farm – 22nd June 2019

Smart mare Sweet Deal enjoys a big drop in grade and looks weighted to win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The John Thompson trained four-year-old year old appears well placed in the Stav, Abby and Matt Class 6 Plate over 1400m.

Sweet Deal worked to the line well when resuming with a 1.4 length fifth in the Group 2 Dane Ripper a fortnight ago.

The drop back to a class 6 is a significant one and the mare looks thrown in under the set weight conditions with just 119lbs on her back.

She should be improved second up and races well that way with a win and three placings from four attempts.

She also does her best work at 7 f with three of her four career wins coming at the journey.

Sweet Deal was being aimed at the Group 1 Tatt's Tiara and while she is set to miss a run as fifth emergency she can gain some consolation in this easier assignment.

Brave Song has been busting to win a race this campaign and gets his chance in the day's closer, the Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes over 1200m

The Team Snowden-trained gelding has been terrific in his three runs this time flashing home for second in the manner of a winner in waiting.

He was unlucky not to break through in the Group 2 Moreton Cup last start when a slow pace was against him but he charged late to miss by a nose.

Before that he commenced this campaign by twice chasing home Trekking, who has franked the form by winning the Stradbroke Handicap.

Brave Song looks suited by what should be a good tempo on Saturday and if Blake Shinn can get him into the clear in the straight he gets every chance for a deserved win.
