Goulburn Meeting Sunk By Burst Water Main

Today's Goulburn race meeting had to be cancelled after the first race due to a burst water main flooding part of the track.
Water from the burst main, connected to a well located past the winning post and adjacent to the course proper, covered the track with surface water.
Stewards ruled the track was unsafe for racing.
"The safety of our racing surface is paramount to us as a race club and most importantly to the industry participants who come here to race," said Goulburn Race Club CEO Robyn Fife.

"The water affecting the track was an unforeseen event and was only discovered after the running of the first race.
"We will work closely with Racing NSW to have the issue addressed immediately."
Horses that did not get to race at Goulburn will be able to re-nominate for any upcoming meeting in NSW until 4pm on the day prior to final acceptances.
