Sydney Specials: Randwick – March 10

It’s Randwick Guineas Day and we’ll be going to the feature event for the best of the day.

After two resounding wins to commence his autumn campaign, Kementari appears poised to claim an overdue Group 1 in Saturday’s Randwick Guineas (1600m).
The son of Lonhro during the spring threw away a Group 1 victory when wayward in the straight contesting the Caulfield Guineas, running second to rank outsider Mighty Boss.
Kementari has always displayed a big motor however during 2017, the Godolphin colt didn’t quite know how to use
His two runs this campaign have shown as clear as day the penny has dropped for the imposing three-year-old.
The colt was scintillating first up in winning the Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm.
A fortnight after he displayed good early speed to settle prominent and remain there throughout to win the Hobartville Stakes (1400m).
While D’Argento was strong to the line late, Glyn Schofield and Kementari claimed the Group 2 sprint with a bit up their sleeves.
Kementari from an awkward draw in the Hobartville was required to work early however on Saturday the James Cummings-trained colt has drawn barrier 4.
The colt maps to land third behind the early leaders and against a similar group of rivals he defeated in the Hobartville Stakes, Kementari should offer up a repeat serve.

In terms of a value play, Showtime appeals contesting the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m).
The son of Snitzel has placed in each of his runs this campaign.
He resumed with a closing second in the Expressway Stakes (1200m) before falling just short of leading throughout at Caulfield in the Futurity Stakes (1400m).
Form out of the Expressway Stakes has already held up through the likes of Trapeze Artist and Global Glamour who have been since been thereabouts in the Hobartville Stakes and Apollo Stakes respectively.
The Team Hawkes-trained three-year-old returns to Randwick third up and is expected to be prominent throughout.
In an open sort of contest, the full brother to Group 1 winner Sweet Idea profiles as a genuine each way chance of claiming his own success at the top level.
