Railway beckons well-performed sprinter

The multiple winner has trialled twice ahead of resuming in the Listed Haunui Farm Counties Bowl (1100m) at Pukekohe Park on November
“That’s where he’ll start, all going well, and he’s really looking good,” trainer Joanne Surgenor said.
Fully Funded hasn’t raced since he was successful at Ruakaka in June and, following a break, he won his latest 5 f trial at Te Aroha.
“I’m praying to God that I can get him to the Railway,” Surgenor said. “He’s been really consistent throughout his career and he can carry weight as well, he’s a pretty adaptable horse.”
Another plus for Fully Funded is his fondness for Ellerslie, where the Gr.1 Sistema Railway (1200m) will be run on New Year’s Day, eleven starts there having resulted in four wins and four placings.
Stablemate Fullinbloom is also well for her Avondale engagement on Friday, although Surgenor was cautious about her prospects in the New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance Pearl Series Race (1200m).
“The draw is a bit of a worry and the 132lbs on her back, but she’s fit and well,” Surgenor said.
Runner-up on debut in the autumn, Fullinbloom was spelled after she broke her maiden at her following start at Ellerslie.
She was a trial winner in October and finished second behind the capable Romancer when resuming at Avondale earlier this month.
“She pulled up really well after the race and she’s progressed nicely since then,” Surgenor said.
