Zac Purton Has Time For Newcastle Mare

Trainer Ben Smith plans to start In Her Time first up run in the G2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on September 30.
Smith, like many trainers, has hopes of gaining a start in the first running of the $10 million Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 14 with In Her Time.
In Her Time could become the fairytale horse of The Everest if a slot holder decides to offer a start to the five-year-old.

In Her Time has been one of racing’s rags to riches stories over the last 12 months, lifting rookie trainer Smith to national prominence with her rise from obscurity to become a multiple Group winner.
In Her Time has won five of her 14 starts and more than $714,000 prizemoney, improving with virtually every start since she gave Smith an unexpected first city win when she won on debut at Canterbury in 2015 at massive odds of $67.
Since last November she has won four of her eight starts including back to back autumn carnival wins in the G2 Breeders Stakes at Randwick and G2 Millie Fox Stakes at Rosehill.
She has since recorded G1 placings in the Stradbroke Handicap and Tatts Tiara in Brisbane, form that is worthy of any Everest contender.
After first intending to hold In Her Time back for a first-up crack at the G1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on October 27 Smith is now eager to give the mare the chance to join Australia’s best sprinters in the Everest.
“At this stage we’re looking at the Premiere Stakes,” Smith said. “She’s just come up so well, I think we’re going to have to give her a run before the Everest.
“We’ve got our plans right through to the autumn next year so we’ll just stay the course and hopefully luck favours us one day.”
